TEA releases ratings for Leander school district

Leander ISD continued its tradition of excellence and earned a rating of Recognized, according to recently released Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) 2011 State Accountability ratings.

The Cedar Park City Council voted 5-2 for a resolution to remove a Heritage oak tree at the corner of Lime Creek Road and Anderson Mill Road.

Two Texas athletes are headed to a national competition one state over. Leander junior Alex Davis and Cedar Park seventh-grader Cade Quiroz qualified for the AAU Jr. Olympics in New Orleans Aug. 1-6 at Ted Gormley Stadium.

The city is holding first readings and public hearings on revisions to speed limits for several streets and amending its drought contingency plan at the City Council regular meeting starting 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Cedar Park Public Library.

Property owners in Leander and Cedar Park may face a possible 4.6-cent per $100 valuation tax increase from the Leander school district based on projected revenue from property taxes and the board of trustees’ direction to continue planning the 2011-12 budget without tapping into the school’s financial reserve.
