Two Texas athletes are headed to a national competition one state over. Leander junior Alex Davis and Cedar Park seventh-grader Cade Quiroz qualified for the AAU Jr. Olympics in New Orleans Aug. 1-6 at Ted Gormley Stadium.

Several local athletes led by Cedar Park’s Herbert Gutierrez and Vista Ridge’s Daniel Belcik ran in the annual Congress Avenue Mile in Austin Saturday.

Hill Country Christian School freshman Olivia Dahl won the State Championship in the pole vault at the TAPPS 2A State Track and Field Meet at Baylor University May 6.

Herbert Gutierrez made sure the Timberwolves came home with some hardware as he earned a silver medal in the boys 1600 meter run as one of five Cedar Park athletes at the 4A UIL State Track and Field Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium on Friday.
